German classical pianist and conductor. He has been the Musical Director of over thirteen orchestras worldwide, as well as a world-renowned pianist in his own right, specializing in the works of Schubert and Mozart. He has recorded more than eighty albums as a musician and conductor. Awards include the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (1990), Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2006), Ernst von Siemens Music Prize (2015), and a Grammy (2014).
