The Cosmos Club is honored to present the 44th annual Cosmos Club Award to Roald Hoffmann.
As a theoretical chemist, he has made major contributions to the understanding of chemical reactions, attested to by the Nobel Prize for Chemistry and many other awards. As a dedicated teacher, he has inspired generations of students with the mysteries of the scientific world and explained for general audiences the dynamic relationships among molecular structures.
As writer and philosopher, his profound insights have enriched our understanding of the dynamic relationships among humans, and between human beings and the natural world. His books, poems, and plays eloquently explore the parallels between the worlds of science, spirit, and human interaction.
As a passionate contributor to the ongoing dialogue of existence, he reminds us that great accomplishments in one field need not preclude an individual from exploration in any other endeavor, and that for all of us, there are no limits to the joys of discovery or the excitements of the journey.
