The 2024 Cosmos Club Award was presented to Pulitzer Prize winning author, historian, and biographer Ron Chernow, graduate of Yale University and Pembroke College at Cambridge, whose extraordinary writing chronicles the lives of giants in American history.
Ron Chernow is the author of seven books and the recipient of the 2015 National Humanities Medal.
His first book, The House of Morgan, won the National Book Award. His sweeping biography Washington: A Life won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography in 2011. His Alexander Hamilton became the inspiration for the critically acclaimed Broadway musical and won the George Washington Prize.
Mr. Chernow is one of only two living biographers to have received the Gold Medal in Biography from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. A past president of PEN America, he has been the recipient of nine honorary doctorates.
Ron Chernow’s long-awaited biography of Mark Twain will appear in 2025.
