Romanian-born Hungarian American physicist. Recognized for pioneering network science and medicine, specifically for his work on scale-free networks and creation of the Barabási–Albert model which transforms the study of complex systems. Awards include the C&C Prize NEC, Japan (2008), Lagrange Prize (2011), EPS Statistical and Nonlinear Physics Prize (2021), the Lilienfeld Prize, APS (2023), and the Gothenburg Lise Meitner Award (2024).
