American opera singer. Although she made her debut at The Metropolitan Opera in New York City, New York, most of her career was spent in her hometown of Washington, D.C. She was the voice of a generation for 30 years in Washington, D.C., singing at major events from U.S. Presidential inaugurations to July 4th celebrations, 9/11 National Memorial services, and Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s Lying in State Ceremony at the U.S. Capitol, while also traveling around the country and world to perform many original works. Her awards include The Ambassador of the Arts Award from the Washington Performing Arts (2017) and The Golden Plate Award from the American Academy of Achievement (2019).
