American writer. She is known as a premiere Shakespearian expert. She served for a decade as the Director of the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. where she led scholarly programs, podcasts, and public programs. After her time at The Folger, she served as editor of the Shakespeare Quarterly, head of the Newberry Library in Chicago, and a visiting faculty member and speaker at many institutions and conferences.
